Bryant Park, NYC, 2004

At 3 PM on August 28th, 2004, Illegal Art, in association with the Imagine Festival of Art, Issues and Ideas, began an urban chalk poem written on the sidewalk around Bryant Park to illustrate freedom of speech. With the help of about 120 passers by to carry us along on their written word, we traveled from the western corner of 6th Avenue and 41st Street to the northern end of Bryant Park at 42nd Street in just over an hour. Only briefly stopped by the police, the poem was completed with great success.

A special thank you to everyone at the Imagine Festival, Jason Salfi, Chris Beach, Cassidy Friedman, Cailtin Sullivan and Sydney McCall.
